Medical Camp at Mala

March 29, 2015

This past Sunday Divine Shakti Foundation & Parmarth volunteers travelled from Parmarth 40 km to the village of Mala.

DSF volunteers had previously come to this village before, and thus this was the team’s second trip to see patients here.

Setting up the camp where space was avaiable, the drizzling rain had an effect on the number of patients that came, but those that were seen were happy to have the free medical care provided to them.

Diseases treated included ear infections in both adults and children, skin diseases common among young and old, high blood pressure, indigestion, constipation, lucorrehea among female patients, some wound care, and diabetes in four villagers. Joint and knee pain among the elderly were common problem. Another issue DSF volunteers discovered here was common eye problems among the road construction workers. These workers are not given
goggles or any kind of eye protective glasses when breaking the stones, and thus small pieces of stones are getting into their eyes thus causing irritation and pain to their eyes.

By the close of the camp, DSF volunteers, consisting of Dr. Priya, Bibi Ma, and Martina, treated 50 patients.
